(Reuters) - This year's "Idol Gives Back" television special raised almost $45 million for children's, hunger and health charities in the United States and Africa, organizers said on Friday. Sir Elton John, Alicia Keys and Carrie Underwood were among the stars who performed in Wednesday's live special event organized by the producers of top-rated singing contest "American Idol." Two previous editions of "Idol Gives Back" in 2007 and 2008 raised a total of around $140 million from audience and corporate donations. Some 18.3 million Americans watched Wednesday's show on Fox television, which was scaled down partly because of the U.S. economic recession, and expectations were lower. The $45 million is expected to rise when proceeds from iTunes sales are added, Fox said. "Once again, I am over overwhelmed by the generosity of the "American Idol" viewers, our sponsors and our special benefactors. I am so thankful to all of the celebrity guests and performers who appeared Wednesday night to support 'Idol Gives Back'," said "American Idol" creator Simon Fuller. The money raised will be shared between the Children's Health Fund, Feeding America, Malaria No More, the U.S. Programs of Save the Children and the United Nations Foundation. Sunni's current manager, Terence Young, has assisted her album's nationwide, marketing and promotional efforts which resulted in nationwide radio airplay and a national promotional tour that included many radio-sponsored dates. Sunni performed for over 10,000 fans as the opening act for headliners B5, Corrine Baily Ray, and Danity Kane. The tour culminated in an appearance at The First Annual James Brown Festival. She has been climbing quickly in the music industry ever since. Sunni has received 1.5 million hits on her MySpace music page./nSunni's success in 2007 convinced her that music would be the testament to her life. In 2009, Sunni plans to expand on writing and licensing her music to film and television in the U.S., and abroad. Patrick Junior C. Okogwu (born November 7, 1988), better known by his stage name, Tinie Tempah, is a rapper and MC from Plumstead, South London. Tinie's first music video for promotional single ‘Wifey’, became an underground smash hit holding the Channel U urban chart top spot for 10 consecutive weeks in 2006. He plans to release his LP, "The Disc-Overy" in July 2010. In mid 2009 Patrick released his second mixtape, "Sexy Beast: Volume 1". Inspired by the Ray Winstone film, the CD featured M.I.A. on I’m Hot and proved to be so popular that the South Londoner ended up making another D.I.Y. video in New York. He has been hired by several clubs such as Rochester club Amadeus in the past as an entertainer but is now set to try to further his career by appearing alongside hit artists such as Chipmunk. Wiley once claimed Patrick would never make it, triggering a feud that signalled an end to any dual performances between the popular grime artists./nHis debut single "Pass Out" has received radio play from Tim Westwood, Nick Grimshaw, Annie Mac, Ras Kwame, MistaJam, Jo Whiley and Chris Moyles while Zane Lowe declared it the "Hottest Record In The World Today" and "Single Of The Week" and is currently on the BBC Radio 1 Playlist A List. In addition Reggie Yates named it as the Weekend Anthem for 20/21st February 2010. The Official Music Video is out and the track was released March 1st. On March 7, 2010, "Pass Out" went straight to #1 on the UK Singles Chart and the UK R;B Chart./nChris Moyles has recently made a new parody for this song, calling the artist the 'Tiny Temper Trap' and its lyrics follow the theme of the artist having an extremely bad temper, and is always in a bad mood. This has been played a small number of times on the Chris Moyles Show, and this version is sung by Chris. Patrick was nominated for MTV's 10 for 2010 as an artist to watch out for in 2010./nHe announced his signing to Parlophone by running a competition on his blog, with the winner invited to High Tea at Claridges to celebrate the deal. According to MTV, Patrick's major label debut album, titled "The Disc-Overy", is due to release in July 2010. He toured with Chipmunk in February 2010.
